Thursday July 29

Today after sleeping late I woke up ate breakfast, yelled at my sister to get out of the bathroom, and headed to Fun Depot. Fun Depot is the Ashville equivalent to Mr Biggs. This place is great and is owned by a Christian family. After some time in the Depot I came to the conclusion that people from North Carolina can't play lazertag at all. After being in several games playing one verses eight people and winning all the games I played I wished that there were some cadets to play against. After that we headed to the mall and I spent a hour and a half wandering around Barnes and Nobel I finally decided on a cartoon and short novel. nothing else interesting has happened since then. -Brook

Another Lost Days Blog

On the 24th we left Ashland Wisconsin saying goodbye to the Vik's. We then drove to Milwaukee to drop my Dad off at the airport to fly back to the Springs. after a few Hours we left the airport thankful that he had gotten another filght home since his original flight was cancelled. We arrived in Lafayette Indiana, Home of Purdue University.  The next day we drove to Ashville North Carolina. We arrived at 8 local time. The last few days have been spent talking with my Mom and Grandmother, waching TV, sleeping late, and eating good food. Today a miracal arrived in my hands. While I was in Ashland a SD card of mine was reformatted and I lost about 200 pictures. I took the SD card to Iris Photo/Graphics and they were able to recover all of my pictures on the card. This small Camera shop was Increadible! My Compliments to the store. Right now I am listening to a Jorge Roman CD and eating banana pudding. God bless. -Brook

P.S. I will be back in Colorado on the 4th and I have my phone back so you can text me.

missed days summery blog

I am sorry that this is late, but several late nights have kept me from blogging. On Friday we arrived at the Dream Center at Nine. We learned that we would be passing out fliers for a church plant. this took most of the morning and afternoon. when we got back to the dream center we set up for urban flo. this was one of the best shows i have ever seen. there was great music dancing and friendship. after urban flo we watched the worst movie ever! it was so cheesy and lame. the next day we spent the day at Snowbird ski resort. this was a great day of relaxing and fun. i got to run through a mountain! the next day my dad and i headed to the airport and caught a flight to Chicago. we waited for my mom to pick us up and drove to Madison Wisconsin. there we ended a day of travel and silence. the next day we finished the drive to Ashland Wisconsin and the Vik's. The next day we slept in and then i went swimming in Lake Superior, a mere five minutes away by walking. the water was freezing. today we slept in and went up to a nearby town and looked at the marina. now i am about to eat and then go swimming at the wall. God Bless You!

Day 4

Today we started at the food bank by sorting food and packaging rice. after a short lunch we went to the Dream center. When we got there we talked about what we had written in our journals. Then Alfred told us that we were going to go and get to sample Iraqi food. it was amazing. Then he told us that this couple spent 99% of their monthly wage on us, and they didn't know us. Then we went back to the Dream center and sorted clothes to give out. we packed up a van and drove to an apartment village. the people were soo happy to receive free clothes. this was incredible and we met some realy cool people. God's hand is very prominate in this trip.

Day 3

Today almost started with a bang for me. We went to Temple Square and toured the Assembley Hall and the Tabernacle. While in those places I was yelled at for trying to take a video and using the LCD screen on my camera instead of the viewfinder. After the tour ended the sisters came over and made sure that I deleated all that was recorded. At that point I was ready for the Men In Black to show up. After that we went to the Dream Center. When there we met Alfred, the pastor. He told us what his church was doing in the area. By the way he shames Woodmens service record. We then went to an elementary school and cleaned up. It was fun being watched by kids saying "who are they?" We also went to an apartment complex and passed out flyers for Backpack to School, a registeration promotion. Alfred then asked us if we wanted international food, and took us to a tongan restaurante. They had some of the best food I have ever had! Later after a great church service and youth group it was time to say goodnight with tears to our short made friends. during that time God used a girl to help a 3 year drug addict to give up drugs.

Day 2

Today was Mormon immersion day. We left the hotel at 8:30 and headed to Murry, a section of SLC. We spent the morning at the SLC youth gardens. many of us were muddy and sweaty after planting spaghetti and summer squash. At the end of the day Shane, the main hancho, thanked us for our service and  gave us a verse from "The Book of Mormon" saying that we were blessed for serving. After lunch we headed to the LDS outreach programs. We toured welfare square and had some delicious chocolate milk! Then we headed over to the clothes stockade. In both areas the "sisters" talked about how service was the way to heaven. At one area we were asked how we did all of these service projects in one day. I responded God wants us to love our neighbors and gives us strength. After a short dinner we went to Temple Square and toured the Conference building, watched the Joseph Smith movie, and talked to several sisters about the differences in our faiths. Later we went to a park for debriefing and prayer.

Day 1

Today as I rode into SLC i listened to a song called "make some noise." This song was written by Krystal Meyers. While I was listening to this song the lyrics (below) struck me like lightning. About five minutes later I was standing in Ensign Park looking over the city at sunset. The special thing about this park was that this was where Brigam Young decided that SLC was "the promised land." The view was incredible. I am convinced that God is going to do incredible things while we are here.
Krystal Meyers - Make Some Lyrics

Yeah you’re so convinced

Of how it’s supposed to be

I know that you’re confused

Don’t take it out on me

We’re not afraid to try

We’re not afraid to dream

But when it all goes wrong

We’re not afraid to scream

Cause the future now is ours to make

Oh, oh, shout it out

Get ready ’cause we like it loud

Cause we’re born to make some noise

Don’t tell me we should turn it down

Cause we were born to make some noise

Make some noise

We’re not the enemy

You might be surprised

Don’t need hypocrisy

To open up our eyes

We don’t need your rules

Don’t need a uniform

This is who we are

We won’t be ignored

Cause the future now is all that remains

Oh, oh shout it out

Get ready ’cause I get loud

Cause we were born to make some noise

Don’t tell me we should turn it down

Cause We were born to make some noise

Nobody’s going to shut it down yeah

Cause we were born to make some noise

We could turn this whole thing around

Come on you girls and boys

Make some noise

Just for once

Can you think for yourself

Second thing

Playing cuz we don’t have any time to waste

Get ready cuz we like it loud

We were born to Make Some Noise

Don’t tell me we should turn it down

Cuz we were born to Make Some Noise

Nobodies gonna shut it down yea

cause we were born to Make Some Noise

We can turn this whole thing around

Come on all you s and boys

Make Some Noise

Get ready cuz we like it loud

We were born to Make Some Noise

Don’t tell me we should turn it down

Cuz we were born to Make Some Noise

We can turn this whole thing around

Come on all you s and boys

Make Some Noise
